Early Childhood Professional Development Initiative
CAT offers one-day workshops to early childhood educators at NYC schools and community based organizations. Tuition is free, thanks to generous support from the NYC Department of Education-- Office of Early Childhood Education and the JPMorgan Chase Foundation. There is space for only 30 participants at each workshop.
Studies show that professional development for teachers is most effective when followed and reinforced by mentoring in the classroom. To that end, we urge educators to take advantage of our unique in-class mentoring residencies. Each school receives:
- 5 days of in-class services for students
- in-class mentoring and coaching for up to four teachers/classrooms,
- on-site staff development, and
- a second 5-hour professional development workshop at CAT.
Residency cost is covered, in part, by support from DOE and JPMorgan Chase Foundation. The schedule fills quickly - contact Helen Wheelock to reserve a spot on the calendar.
